Effective Monday, August 12, the campus access status will be Orange for all hours of the day. This change is intended to keep our community safe given reports of potential disruptions at Columbia and on college campuses across the country as we approach the beginning of the new school year.

A call for donation of school supplies is active to support the 9th Annual Back-2-School community event hosted by the NYPD 26th Precinct Community Affairs along with Manhattan Community Board 9.

Beginning Wednesday, July 31, access to the Morningside campus will be expanded to Green level status from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Beginning Thursday, July 11, campus access hours available to anyone – including non-CUID holders – will be expanded, extending from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

Beginning Monday, June 17, the Morningside campus will be open to everyone – including non-CUID holders – between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., seven days a week.

We have instituted a new, streamlined process for registering guests to access the Morningside campus. Effective immediately, Columbia affiliates can complete this registration form to provide prior authorization for guests and event attendees to come to the Morningside campus.

Beginning Tuesday, May 28 at 8 a.m., the north pedestrian gate at 116th Street and Broadway will be available to access the Morningside campus, joining the current access points.

Beginning Thursday, May 23 at 8 a.m., the Wien Gate on 116th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Morningside Drive will be available to access the Morningside campus, in addition to 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue and the Earl Gate at 117th Street and Broadway. These gates will be accessible 24/7 to Columbia affiliates with a valid CUID. Affiliates will also have access to all campus buildings, consistent with normal operating hours, including but not limited to IAB, the Law School, Mudd and Lerner.

Local law enforcement has received credible information about plans for a protest on the George Washington Bridge tomorrow morning, Wednesday, May 15, aimed at disrupting travel and commerce. Potential disruptive actions may begin as early as 7:00 AM. Allow for extra travel time or make plans to avoid the area if possible.

Access to the Morningside campus has been further expanded to include all Morningside-based Columbia graduating students, all Columbia Law School students, and all Morningside-based Columbia staff.

Beginning Wednesday, May 8 at 8:00 a.m., access at the Morningside campus will expand to all Columbia undergraduates and to GSAS MA and PhD students in teaching or academic support roles this semester. 

For Tuesday, May 7, 2024, access to the Morningside campus will remain limited to Morningside faculty, students residing in residential buildings on campus and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, libraries, labs and residential student life.
