On August 1, 2017, at approximately 2:12 P.M. an affiliate had his property removed from his vehicle in front of the S.I.P.A. Building on W. 118 St. CCTV shows the person in the photo below enter the affiliate’s vehicle and remove the property. The person in the photo is last seen heading north on Amsterdam Avenue. Larceny

On May 27, 2017 at about 6:45 p.m. an affiliate reports his bike was stolen from the area of Amsterdam Ave. between W. 116 St and W. 117 St. The person shown in the photo below is observed on video, breaking the lock and riding the bike north on Amsterdam Ave. Remember to use a strong cable lock when leaving your bike unattended. On 6/2/17, at 02:53 hours, the person pictured below entered 529 W. 111 Street. This person took a package from the lobby, opened it, and removed its contents. On May 21, 2017 at about 8:43 A.M. an affiliate had a package delivered to the lobby of 423 W. 118 St. and when she went to pick up the package it was missing. CCTV video shows the individual in the photo below enter the lobby of 423 W. 118 St. by circumventing the door lock at about 5:50 P.M. on May 21, 2017 and remove three packages from the lobby of the building. The individual exits the building and eventually enters a cab on Amsterdam Avenue which heads North. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the undersigned. On May 12, 2017 at about 1:36 P.M. an affiliate had a package delivered to the lobby of 529 W. 111 St. and when she went to pick up the package it was missing. CCTV video shows the individual in the photos below enter the lobby of 529 W. 111 St. as someone was exiting the building at about 1:20 P.M. on May 13, 2017 and remove several packages from the lobby of the building. The individual exits the building and eventually goes south on Broadway. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the undersigned. On April 25, 2017, an affiliate had a package delivered to the lobby of 195 Claremont Avenue and when he went to pick up the package it was gone. CCTV video shows the person in the photo below enter the lobby of 195 Claremont by piggy backing in the front door at about 5:17 P.M. without any packages and leaves with numerous packages at 5:21 P.M. The unknown person in the photo below is observed removing the bicycle and riding south on Broadway from 116th street. Robbery

On March 29, 2017 at about noon, an affiliate was the victim of a robbery on Amsterdam Ave. between W.123Street and LaSalle Street. The victim was stopped as she was driving her car and the suspect told her that there was a problem with her vehicle. After spending a few moments at the engine, he informed her that he fixed her car and that she owed him $380.00. The suspect forced the victim to drive to an ATM machine to get him money. The person pictured below was observed on CCTV video entering the Journalism Building. He exited the building with the affiliate’s laptop case. On February 19, 2017 at approximately 5:45 PM, an affiliate had their bicycle stolen from a bike rack located on Low Plaza. The unknown person in the photos below is seen on CCTV cutting the cable lock that secured the bike to the bike rack. They then exit the campus with the bike at West 116th Street and Broadway and ride southbound on Broadway. The unknown person is wanted by the NYPD for several other bike thefts from campus and the surrounding area. On Thursday, January 26, 2017, at about 5:22am, an affiliate had their package removed from the lobby of 541 West 113th Street by the unknown person in the photo below. They gained entry into the building by ringing various occupant’s door bells and being granted access. The unidentified person then enters the building, removes a package and opens several others. On Wednesday, January 18th, 2017, a laptop was stolen from a P&S 3rd floor office and on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 another laptop was stolen from a P&S 17th floor lab. On both occasions, the person shown below, Mr. Jumel Brown, was recorded on CCTV acting in a suspicious manner, then enter and exit each location. Mr. Jumel Brown is a known “Persona Non Grata” and has been arrested in the past for committing crimes on both CU campuses.

On January 19, 2017 at approximately 1:30 PM an affiliate had their bicycle stolen from a bike rack at West 117 Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The male in the photos below, positively identified as “Hector Maya” a past “PNG” and bicycle thief was observed on CCTV cutting a cable lock that secured the bike to the bike rack. The male in the photos below “Bernard Fuller” (PNG), who is wanted by the NYPD for an Attempted Larceny from inside SIPA was observed on CCTV inside of Fayerweather and Avery Halls on 01/17/17 at approximately 10:00 AM. On January 13, 2017 at approximately 3:00 AM the two unknown individuals in the photos below removed a motorized bicycle from in front of the Hamilton Deli (1129 Amsterdam Ave). The individuals cut a cable lock with a bolt cutter and rode off north bound on Amsterdam Ave. Both Individuals also removed an Affiliates bicycle from West 117 Street and Amsterdam Ave before the theft of the motorized bike by cutting a U-Lock with the bolt cutter. Robbery

Columbia University Public Safety has received two reports of robberies that occurred recently in Morningside Park. On November 28, 2016, at about 6 P.M., a victim was accosted as she walked westbound through the park. A male, about 19-20 years of age, approached the victim, displayed a knife and demanded money. The victim stated the male was wearing a mask or scarf covering his face. The New York City Police Department has informed us that they have a similar report of another robbery that occurred on Friday, November 25, 2016, at about 6 P.M., also within Morningside park.

Columbia University provides shuttle service throughout the evening. Routes and schedules can be found on our website at publicsafety.columbia.edu. When traveling at night, remember to be aware of your surroundings, limit the use of your cellphone and enter parks only when open to the public. Burglary

On November 2, 2016 a non affiliate reported having his truck broken into at W. 117 St. and Morningside Drive and property removed. At about 2:55 P.M. CCTV shows the gray minivan in the photo below pull up behind the truck and the four people in the photos below cut the lock on the rear roll down door, enter the truck and removed property. The four persons then enter the minivan and head south on Morningside Drive. The unknown person did enter the building to make a food delivery and on his way out he did remove several packages. Robberies Inside Riverside Park

On August 28, 2016, the New York City Police Department alerted the public that a number of robberies have been committed inside Riverside Park. The persons responsible travel on bicycles, accosting people as they are walking through the park. While none of the robberies have occurred in the immediate vicinity of the Morningside Campus, it is important that caution is used when walking alone in the park.
■ Never enter the park after closing hours.
■ Whenever possible, travel with another person.
■ Be cautious when using mobile phones or other electronic devices.
■ Be aware of your surroundings, if you feel threatened or observe suspicious activity call the police immediately by dialing 911.

Attempted Larceny

This person did attempt to pull a bag off the affiliate’s shoulder. He then fled southbound on Broadway and entered the subway at West 116th Street. On February 25, 2016 at approximately 12:53 PM, an affiliate had their bicycle stolen from the Lerner Hall/Carman Hall bike rack by cutting a cable lock. The individual in the photos below identified as a past "PNG" for bicycle thefts was observed entering the campus via the Carman Gate. On February 23, 2016 at approximately 9:00 PM the male in the photos below identified as Mr. David Owens, a Non-Affiliate was observed on the 6th floor of 18 West 108th Street partially dressed with clothing in his hands. If Mr. Owens is observed in or near any Columbia University owned building please do not approach him and call 911 and Public Safety at 212 854-5555. Mr. Owens was also observed inside of 509 West 112th Street in November 2015 and has been observed in and near other Columbia University owned buildings on multiple occasions exhibiting the same behavior.

Robbery

On February 12, 2016 at about 9:45 p.m. an affiliate was the victim of a strong arm robbery in the vicinity of W. 122 St. between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave. The victim was walking into her apartment building when an individual approached her and demanded her property. The perpetrator fled north on Amsterdam Ave. following the robbery. The victim supplied the following description to the police:
Male/ Black/ Light Complexion/50yrs/ Medium Build/5'7"-5'10"/ Black and white goatee/ missing several teeth/ wearing a navy blue jacket with a hoodie and dark pants.

Attempted Fraud

On Wednesday January 20th 2016, at about 6:37 pm, the unidentified suspect shown below in concert with the other shown male attempted to "snatch" a cell phone from an affiliate as she waited for a bus in front of the Russ Berrie Pavilion, in the vicinity of St. Nicholas Ave between W167 to W 168 Streets. On December 4, 2015 at about 10:27pm the unknown individual in the photos below was observed attempting to cut a lock on a chained bicycle at 116th street and Amsterdam Ave. The individual did remove a tire from the bicycle but abandoned his bicycle and the tire he removed when approached by Public Safety. Attempted Robbery

On November 4, 2015 at approximately 6:15 PM inside of Morningside Park and West 116th Street, an affiliate was the victim of an Attempted Robbery. The unknown suspects in the photos below did attempt to remove the victim's bag by knocking her to the ground. The unknown suspects fled the area by walking southbound on Morningside Drive toward West 110th Street. On October 29, 2015 Public Safety was made aware of packages being taken from the lobby of 130 Morningside Drive on numerous occasions. On October 11, 2015 at 7:16pm the individual in the left photo below is seen on CCTV/Security video piggybacking into the building and stuffed a large bag with packages that were left in the lobby. On October 15, 2015 at 9:02am the individual in the photo on the right is also seen piggybacking into the building and removing two packages from the lobby. On Thursday, July 23, 2015 at about 8:30 AM, the unidentified suspicious person shown below entered Wien Hall without proper authorization. While inside, he acted in a suspicious manner and made alarming statements. Forcible Touching

On Wednesday June 17th, 2015 9:30 a.m., an affiliate was the victim of forcible touching. As she was walking northbound on Morningside Ave at 123rd Street, she was approached from behind and grabbed in her lower torso area. The suspect fled northbound on Morningside Avenue. The affiliate describes the subject as a heavy set/ male/ dark completion/ 5'9' to 6' tall/ 19 to 22 years of age. Subject was seen wearing a yellow tee shirt and green & black shorts. Attempted Bike Larceny

On Tuesday April 21, 2015 at approximately 3:11AM in front of 514 W 114th Street the male shown below used a ladder to remove a secured bicycle above a street pole. The bike was abandoned by the male on 114th Street & Amsterdam Avenue and recovered by NYPD. Bike Larceny

On Sunday April 19th, 2015 at approximately 7:35 PM in the vicinity of the Black building bike racks, the two identified males shown below removed an unsecured bike belonging to a non affiliate. The bike was abandoned by Suspect #1 on W 169 St. and recovered by Public Safety. It was returned to the owner who declined to report the incident to the NYPD. On April 18, 2015 at approximately 8:00 PM the 3 unknown males in the photos below did remove 3 affiliates' bikes which were secured to bike racks with cable locks from campus. The unknown males exit the campus at West 116 Street and Broadway and ride the stolen bikes north on Broadway. Remember to secure your bicycles to bike racks only by using a "U-Lock "type device and avoid using "cable lock' devices.

Fraud

On April 11, 2015 at approximately 10:58 PM, at West 112 Street and Broadway an Affiliate was approached by the unknown male and female in the photo below. The unknown male and female took part in a "Money Con Game ", the unknown male informed the Affiliate and did show him a large sum of money and stated that he is willing to share the money because he cannot bring it all back to his country. They ask the Affiliate to go to the bank and withdrawal $500 as a "good faith gesture". The unknown female took the money from the Affiliate and handed him an envelope containing cut newspaper. On March 1, 2015 at about 11:20 A.M. at West 113 Street and Broadway an Affiliate was the victim of a money order scam. The unknown males in the photos below convinced the victim to deposit a fraudulent money order into the victim's account, withdraw cash and give the cash to one of the males. The NYPD 33rd Precinct reports on Tuesday, February 03, 2015 between 11:00 and 11:55 AM in the vicinity of Haven Avenue, property was taken from secured apartments in two non-university residential buildings. Detectives are seeking to identify the male shown below who is considered a person of interest and was observed by CCTV in those buildings. The same male was observed parking the vehicle shown below on W 170 Street at 9:35 AM. On Saturday, January 17th, 2015 at approximately 5:45 PM inside a lab on VC 14, a CCTV review shows the unidentified male pictured below, remove an unattended cellphone that was charging on a desk. On January 12th, 2015, at about 7:30 PM, at the Amsterdam Ave and W 116 St Campus Entrance Bicycle Racks, a bicycle was stolen. A CCTV recorded the unidentified males shown below stealing the bicycle and then leaving the campus with the bicycle and also a second stolen bicycle from another location. Public Safety Investigations is seeking to identify these individuals.
