After 21 years of valued service to the department and the Morningside Campus, PSO Hinojosa traded his PS uniform for some time in the sun as he and his family move to Florida. Luis always performed his duties in a professional manner and with great pride. His services and contributions to our team will be greatly missed.
The quick thinking and actions of Public Safety and Allied security personnel prevented theft of packages from an apartment building lobby, leading to the arrest of the alleged burglar.
After being notified of two CUIMC affiliates stuck inside an elevator, Officer Daniel McKnight responded quickly to the scene, checked all floors, and located the two passengers who were trapped. With his help, the FDNY units were able to release the passengers unharmed.
Sergeant Darren Salinardi observed a non-affiliate slumped in the driver’s seat after rear-ending a parked vehicle. Quickly responding to the scene and using his first responder skills, Sergeant Salinardi helped the woman regain consciousness and get out of the smoking vehicle without harm.
Thanks to the Public Safety team's collective bravery and skills, they were able to take control of the situation, allowing NYPD to arrest the suspect wanted for assault.
Sr. Sgt. Gil requested the assistance of the NYPD and kept the individual occupied until NYPD arrived and arrested the individual, without incident.
