Beginning at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, access to the Morningside campus will be limited to CUID holders only with entry at the College Walk pedestrian gates at Broadway and 116th and Amsterdam and 116th, Wien Gate on 116th between Amsterdam and Morningside Drive, Earl Hall Gate at 117th and Broadway, and John Jay Gate on 114th Street near Amsterdam. All other campus gates will be closed.

Beginning at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, access to the Morningside campus will be limited to CUID holders only with entry at the College Walk pedestrian gates at Broadway and 116th and Amsterdam and 116th, Wien Gate on 116th between Amsterdam and Morningside Drive, Earl Hall Gate at 117th and Broadway, and John Jay Gate on 114th Street near Amsterdam. All other campus gates will be closed.

Public Safety partnered with engineering students to update Lion Safe, the University’s mobile safety app. Input from students about how the app is used and which services are most popular helped shape the redesign of the free app.

Welcome to the start of a new academic year! As you begin to establish your schedules and routines for the new semester, Vice President of Public Safety Gerald Lewis Jr. shares important safety information and available University resources.

As part of the annual Back to School Supply Drive hosted by the West Harlem Development Corporation, the NYPD 26th Precinct, and the Manhattan Community Board 9, Public Safety teamed up with Columbia Community Services (CCS) to collect school supplies for students in the local community. 

Now you will be able book rides in a Columbia University dedicated app, without having to download and redeem a promo code. The app will also display alternative Columbia Transportation shuttle bus options based on your trip details and availability.

On Wednesday, August 31st, 2023, Public Safety will support the 8th Annual Back-2-School community event being held at Old Broadway between 125th and 126th Street, from 1 PM - 5 PM and hosted by the 26th Precinct Community Affairs along with Manhattan Community Board 9, featuring a school supplies distribution, entertainment, refreshments, and other back-to-school resources.
