Our institution respects the dignity of every human life, and we condemn all acts of anti-Black violence. We acknowledge the deep pain that the events of the past few weeks have caused those in our Columbia community and our wider society. 

Due to COVID-19, only essential personnel are required to be physically present on campus. Earlier this week, all academic and administrative buildings on the Morningside campus with card-reader-only access were set to weekend access.

A reminder about new and enhanced resources available to the Columbia community.

Starting Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, the Public Safety Evening Shuttle will extend its hours of operation to begin at 4:00 p.m. every day on its two routes.  In addition, the two Public Safety guard booths on Morningside Drive, located at 116th Street and 122nd Street, are now staffed with Public Safety officers 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

As of November 2, 2019, the Mudd Building is accessible through the first floor/West 120th Street entrance on weekends during the building’s regular weekend hours.

Due to the anticipated opening of the new entrance to the Studebaker building on 131st Street, there will be changes to Columbia shuttle bus routes and schedules beginning on Monday, November 11. The following location and schedule changes will accommodate the new Studebaker entrance:

Columbia University Public Safety is partnering with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to provide a safe disposal location for unused prescription medications in Upper Manhattan as part of the DEA’s annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Public Safety continues to receive reports of Columbia affiliates, especially international students, being scammed by thieves calling from unknown phone numbers—often mirroring familiar phone numbers with the same area code.

The new guard booth near the southeast corner of Broadway and 120th Street was part of the site plan when the Northwest Corner Building was constructed.
