Safety Resources and Reminders

Dear members of the Columbia community: 

In light of the shooting incident in Midtown Manhattan yesterday evening, we want to remind you of the safety resources available to the Columbia community.  

• Review Emergency Protocols. Public Safety’s protocols for emergency situations include guidelines intended to reduce your personal risk in the unlikely event of an active shooter incident.  

• Sign Up for Emergency Notifications. Public Safety will send emergency mobile text-based messages in the event of an emergency situation that could impact members of the Columbia community. Follow these instructions to register if you are not already receiving emergency notifications.  

• Take Our Situational Awareness Training. Public Safety also offers virtual situational awareness trainings to enhance your personal safety skills in a variety of situations.
