  • Public Safety Officer Finds Quick Solution to Free Affiliates from Stuck Elevator  
    After being notified of two CUIMC affiliates stuck inside an elevator, Public Safety Officer Daniel McKnight responded quickly to the scene, checked all floors, and located the two passengers who were trapped. With his knowledge of the campus, Officer McKnight assisted arriving FDNY units and escorted them to the elevator mechanical room to resolve the issue. The passengers were released unharmed.  
     
  • Public Safety Officer’s Close Observations Prevents a Theft 
    While on duty and monitoring the security cameras, Public Safety Officer Raquel St. John observed on security cameras someone removing a bike seat from a secured bike on the racks situated by the Jerome L. Greene Science Center. Officer St. John confronted the individual, who returned the bike seat and left the scene. Because of Officer St. John’s great observation skills, she prevented a theft. 
     
  • Using Crisis Intervention Skills, Public Safety Officer Helps an Individual Get the Care They Need 
    After a non-affiliate entered the Black Building exhibiting signs of a mental health crisis, Public Safety Officer Ivan Almonte quickly came to her aid. Using de-escalation tactics from his training, Officer Almonte helped to comfort the individual while simultaneously calling for additional support.  Officer Almonte’s quick actions played a major role in getting this individual in distress the help she needed.
