Extreme Heat Warning, July 1 to 4
We are entering summer’s first heat wave, with the National Weather Service issuing an Extreme Heat Warning for New York City and its surrounding region in effect from Wednesday, July 1 through Saturday, July 4.
Public Safety Honors University Partners, Staff Achievements, and Milestones
Public Safety recognized its own staff and university partners who went above and beyond in their support of the department and service to the Columbia University community during its annual recognition and awards ceremony held June 17 at Low Library. The event also celebrated staff promotions and outstanding attendance milestones.
Our Commitment to Safety and Support for Every Member of Our Community
The detainment of one of our students by the Department of Homeland Security last week was deeply troubling and unsettling for our University community. Understandably, many members of our community are still experiencing a good deal of fear and uncertainty and asking what more we and the University can do to support the safety of our community. We write to update you on important steps the University has undertaken over the last week to enhance safety and clarify protocols and procedures regarding interactions with law enforcement.
