Morningside Campus Guest Access Information

The University has expanded guest access to make it easier for members of our community to welcome friends, family, and those visiting our campus for academic purposes.

The guest registration portal is available for the entire campus community to request guest access at the Morningside campus, with expanded same-day guest access coinciding with the start of the Fall 2026 Term. Guest access provisions include:

  • Columbia faculty, full-time officers of instruction and research may register up to 24 same-day guests and an unlimited number of guests, if registered by 5pm the day prior
  • Columbia students and staff may register up to five same-day guests and an unlimited number of guests, if registered by 5pm the day prior
  • Current Barnard and Teachers College faculty and staff may register up to five same-day guests and up to five additional guests if registered by 5pm the day prior
  • Current Barnard and Teachers College students may register up to two same-day guests and up to two additional guests if registered by 5pm the day prior
  • Columbia, Barnard and Teachers College retirees may register up to five same-day guests
  • Children under the age of 12 who are accompanied by an adult with access to campus are no longer required to have a separate QR code

Anyone registering a guest assumes responsibility for their registered guest(s) and their guest(s)' actions while at the Morningside campus. This includes the registered guest's requirement to comply with all University Rules and policies while visiting Columbia.

In addition, neighbors in our surrounding community may register for access to campus through the University’s Campus Access for Neighbors program, which provides an ongoing QR code for campus access, free of charge.
