Every summer, Public Safety teams up with Columbia Community Service (CCS) to collect school supplies for students in the local community, grades 1 to 7. Over 700 students from Upper Manhattan were provided with books, pens, pencils, rulers, crayons, notebooks, backpacks, calculators, binders, and folders to help them prepare for the 2021-22 school year at the Sixth Annual Back-2-School community event. Hosted by the 26th Precinct Community Affairs and Manhattan Community Board 9, the event also featured family programming and other community resources to safely celebrate a new school year.
