Guest access to Morningside campus

June 05, 2024

Dear fellow members of the Columbia community,

We have instituted a new, streamlined process for registering guests to access the Morningside campus.

Effective immediately, Columbia affiliates can complete this registration form to provide prior authorization for guests and event attendees to come to the Morningside campus. In addition, affiliates of Barnard and Teachers College have access to the Morningside campus and can request guest access.

After the registration form is completed, each guest will receive an email confirmation containing a QR code. To enter campus, guests can use the available entry points to campus and must display a government-issued ID that matches the name on their email confirmation along with the QR code in their confirmation for scanning. QR codes can only be scanned once for valid entry to campus. If the same guest needs to come to campus on multiple days, a separate registration submission and QR code is needed for each day. Event organizers should follow the instructions on the form to submit guest access requests for large events.

Access requests via the registration form must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. the day prior to guest entry, so forms submitted today would be for campus access beginning tomorrow. Same-day, emergency guest requests can be sent to [email protected] for review. Note that advance registration via the registration form is the preferred method and that we may not always be able to accommodate same-day requests.

We recognize that CUID-only access restrictions have posed a burden, particularly when it comes to having visitors such as visiting scholars on campus. This streamlined visitor registration process will alleviate many challenges associated with guest access while maintaining the safety and well-being of our community and ensuring the continuity of our academic mission. Please ask all guests to adhere to university rules and policies, which are fundamental to realizing the open campus environment that we all desire.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support.

Sincerely,

Cas Holloway
Chief Operating Officer
