Morningside Campus Access Updates

Updated May 4, 2024

Access to the Morningside campus will remain limited to Morningside faculty, students residing in residential buildings on campus (Carman, Furnald, John Jay, Hartley, Wallach, East Campus and Wien) and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, libraries, labs and residential student life (for example, Dining, Public Safety, and building maintenance staff).

Yesterday, we also expanded access for all CUID holders registered with the University for campus accommodations such as accessible building entrances and lifts.

The only access point into and out of campus is the 116th Street and Amsterdam gate. All other campus entry points are closed. Security personnel will remain in place at the Wien Gate for individuals requiring disability access to Wien Hall and East Campus.

If you have a planned and already scheduled event that cannot be rescheduled, please consult Public Safety by emailing [email protected].

Please review and adhere to all University policies and rules, including those that apply to demonstrations, protests, sit-ins, vigils, outdoor space, and other events.

The safety of the Columbia and greater communities is the guiding principle for determining these measures. Changes in the future will be made with the safety of our community as the highest priority. These current access restrictions will remain in place until circumstances allow otherwise.

On behalf of the University, thank you for understanding the unique circumstances involved and for your patience and cooperation.
